The first album I paid for after I became interested in music was Muse's Origin of Symmetry, which was the first rock album I discovered and the first band's sound I fell in love with. I listened to the song New Born when I was in high school and liked it, then I bought the album. I wasn't the type of person who listened to music willingly at all before that. They were my starting point, and there are a lot of bands that I discovered through them.
EP2 by Yaeji. Even if I'm in my bedroom, I can still feel like I'm at a party.
I recently got Anton Fier's album Dreamspeed, which features guest appearances by Phew. The title track, Dreamspeed, is a collaboration between Anton Fier, Bootsy Collins, Buchethead and Phew. Phew's singing is very gentle and beautiful. It's very inspiring.
浪漫的夢想 by Hong Kong Express. An album full of chill and romantic moods. I like dance music that gives me a boost, but the music that always makes me happy has a somewhat sad mood to it. Perhaps melancholic and happy are very close in my mind.
Interesting question. And a difficult one to answer, because my favourite albums are the ones where all the pieces – producing, mixing, etc – fit together like a puzzle and I don't seem to need to do anything.
With classic pop masterpieces., there might be room for me to do something with the help of current technology and trends. The artist that comes to mind is Peter Gabriel. My favourite is Peter Gabriel 3, but if I were to produce it, it would be the album So. The melodies are beautiful and very powerful. Good pop music has a strength that allows for arrangement.
This is a fun question that opens up many imaginative possibilities. If I could produce someone's album, I would want it to have fun rhythms and with a sense of space. The bass should be strong, of course.
I have a lot of favourite albums, but to be honest, I can't say that I will definitely listen to an album I like now for the rest of my life, no matter how great it is. Because I think people's tastes are very fluid. I think the albums that I can say I will listen to for the rest of my life are the ones that are strongly connected to personal memories.
Therefore, if I had to name one, it would be Yapoos' Dadada ism. I've been listening to them since I was a little kid. It's so ingrained in me that when I listen to it, it brings back memories of dozing off in the back seat of my father's car. I don't listen to it every day, but I still listen to it regularly. I think it will continue to be so.
Yapoos is a band in which Jun Togawa is the vocalist. I like all the Yapoos albums, but I think Dadada ism is my favourite. It's full of pop, cool and interesting songs.
When I talk about my favourite music with people, the one that surprises me the most is probably The Battle Of Los Angels by Rage Against The Machine. When I was in high school I heard Sleep Now In The Fire and it blew me away.
I had just started playing guitar and Tom Morello's guitar really hit me. I like it a lot, it's close to my roots and I'm very influenced by it . I think Tom Morello definitely influenced me to make ambient sounds and sound effects on the guitar, and I think they also influenced my love of loop music.
But to my friends it sounds like a complete departure from my recent style.
